In celebration of Arts Month 2022, the community of Monument is invited to the local skate park to help paint the two vertical concrete sections at the top of the skate ramps (one is approximately 2’ x 15’, and the other is approximately 2’ x 34’). The artwork will be designed and painted under the direction of local artist, Lawson Barney. Painting will take place on Saturday & Sunday, October 1 & 2 from 9AM–4PM (rain dates are October 15 & 16). For questions, email the Town of Monument events staff at events@tomgov.org.

Lawson Barney is an award-winning oil painter and muralist born and raised in Colorado Springs. Trained in classical and modern techniques, his work ranges from Abstract Expressionism and Surrealism to Renaissance and Baroque reproductions. His work has been featured in local newspapers, The Denver Fine Arts and Tattoo Masquerade, Colorado Springs galleries, and St. Peter’s Church in Monument.
