Caitlin Lowans is a theatre director, educator, and community advocate who just began their fourth season as Artistic Director of Theatreworks Colorado Springs. A longtime New Englander, Caitlin most recently pursued an MFA at Northwestern University and before that served as Associate Artistic Director at Stoneham Theatre (now Greater Boston Stage Company), north of Boston, where Caitlin was also the Director of Education. Caitlin has directed over fifty productions in New England, Chicago, and Colorado. At Theatreworks, Caitlin has directed A Christmas Carol adapted by Murray Ross; Arcadia by Tom Stoppard; Witch by Jen Silverman; and both Comedy of Errors and Midsummer Night’s Dream for their Free-For-All program. In 2021 Caitlin wrote the text for Theatreworks’ shadow-puppet production, The Mitten, co-produced with KatyWilliamsDesign and JParkerArts, and will collaborate again with Katy Williams for Snowy Tales this December. Caitlin is passionate about community-engaged arts, and work that confronts social questions about how we live now in unexpected, joyful, and metaphorical ways; in 2021, let’s keep uplifting arts and artists.
