Springs Art & Seek

Make Art - Hide Art - Find Art - Free Art!

In celebration of Arts Month 2021, the entire community is invited to join in the fun by creating a piece of art to hide, or by searching for the hidden art. Or both!

The event will take place on Saturday, October 9, and be managed virtually by the Springs Art and Seek Society on our Instagram page.

Details for participating will be provided to participants online on the Society’s Instagram @springs.art_and_seek.society, #springsartandseek, and Facebook page (Springs Art and Seek Society).

This is the third event that has been hosted by the Springs Art and Seek Society, engaging the community in a fun art-based scavenger hunt spanning both Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs. The first two events were very successful, with dozens of artists and players participating.

In September, the Society will promote the event locally in order to increase participation. Artists will create new pieces of artwork, and prior to the event post progress photos on Instagram and tag the Art and Seek Society with what they are making. The Society will report the photos on their page so that all the participants can see what is being made and start building excitement for the event.

On the day of the event (October 9), participating artists will hide the creations and post clues so the searchers can start looking. Clues can be photos of the artwork in situ, or verbal clues, or whatever the artist thinks will help players find their work. There are no limitations on where the art can be hidden. Once the clues start being posted, the searchers can start looking! They follow the clues posted on Instagram in order to find the hidden art pieces. Once a piece of artwork is found, the finder posts a picture of what they found, tagging both the artist and the Springs Art and Seek Society ( @springs.art_and_seek.society , #springsartandseek , #springsartandseeksociety ). The finder gets to keep the free artwork!

At the end of the day, the artists who have not heard if their piece was found are asked to go check on it, and if it was not found to pick it up to minimize any environmental impact. For questions or additional information, email springsartandseeksociety@gmail.com.
