Arts Advocacy
Each year, Arts Month creates the perfect opportunity to advocate in support of our region’s arts & cultural community. Since the start of our annual celebration in 2014, the Cultural Office has secured official Arts Month proclamations from city and county governments, as well as several local school districts.
Requesting Arts Month proclamations and resolution from local municipalities is part of the Cultural Office’s ongoing effort to cultivate strong working relationships with our elected leaders, to highlight the importance of our creative sector, and to raise awareness for the Arts Month celebration that takes place across the Pikes Peak region each October.

2026 Proclamation Schedule
Throughout Arts Month, local governments across the Pikes Peak region officially recognize October as Arts Month through proclamations, resolutions, and other formal actions. Some recognitions include public presentations during scheduled government meetings, while others are formally adopted and entered into the public record.
When public presentations are scheduled, local artists, arts supporters, and community members are encouraged to attend and show their support for arts and culture in our region.
- El Paso County Board of County Commissioners: 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, Centennial Hall, 200 South Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903 (Arts Month will be officially recognized through the Board’s consent calendar and entered into the public record. No public reading or presentation is scheduled.)
- Woodland Park City Council: 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, City Hall, City Council Chambers, 220 W South Avenue, Woodland Park, CO 80863
- Manitou Springs City Council: 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, City Hall, 606 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO 80829
- Palmer Lake Board of Trustees: 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, Town Hall, 28 Valley Crescent Street, Palmer Lake, CO 80133
